Barndo Building Process
This 2,280 sq. ft. barndominium suffices a 2-story living space, built within a family compound, and supported by a stick-built frame. It was originally proposed to have a metal frame, but the builder suggested sticking with traditional framing.
So to say, it is a traditionally founded structure with modern contemporary architecture, or simply a fusion of a conventional house and a barndominium.
The concept was mainly Charlie’s idea inspired by one of our barndo plans you can find here, thus the modified result. It might have gone a little over standard construction costs, yet it was done with professional and reputable service.
Financing – How Did He Do It?
Charlie did not disclose much information about his construction funds, but he did mention that it cost him $550,000. Still, it is worthwhile as the professional assistance he received secured the structure’s good build. Learn more about how to finance a barndominium here if you’re looking to build one day.

Barndominium Exterior – The Eye Catcher Of The Meadows
Why is this house an eye-catcher factor? Well, just look at this barndo’s stunning facade that flourishes the whole as an elegant unit. Its height and glass finishes are all about its contemporary statement of design. Charlie leveled up his barndo’s 18 ft. exterior walls with cultured stone cladding and LP Smartside batten walls.
The indoor gleaming is best for its dark finishes, especially at night. Nonetheless, its frontal appeal screams timelessness and graceful even during the daytime.
Interior – Warm and Mellow
Let’s take our perspectives inside and see the warm living space that sets a cozy mood as soon as you enter. It has a bright and airy interior with dramatically high-raised ceilings, complemented with honey lights.
Charlie chose a minimalist, neat, and open-plan layout that still delivers a comfortable living setting. We should jump right to the rooms and break down the elements that Charlie infused in this barndo.
Living Room
Within entry, you’ll see a spacious, open floor that provides a harmonious area. At the right is the allotted area for the living room, which houses cozy and cushy couches and a cultured stone-crafted fireplace. It has an airy ambiance thanks to its glass windows and pleasant lawn view.
Kitchen and Dining
Since the plan is fluid, the kitchen and dining next to the great hall are ideal for such a family house. The L-shaped layout for the kitchen made the area uncluttered and well-spaced. Supplied with an additional cooking counter, the kitchen has an extended dining/bar. The dining table and chairs are the accents of this barndo, coupled with the colors of the loft’s wall, which can be seen from below.
Bedrooms
As per Charlie, he chose to have three bedrooms on different floors. The master bedroom is on the main level equipped with an en-suite bathroom and a large window for natural light and air. The other two rooms are upstairs on the loft level, spacious enough for a double bed.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms in this unit are neat and cool and suit the minimalist character of this barndo. Preferred stained concrete is a good floor choice, making the bathrooms easy to maintain.
Loft
The open interior exposes the loft above that overlooks the whole barndo. The bright available space is ideal for Charlie’s chosen entertainment setup. It also exhibits colorful and quaint wall art that marries the light yellow dining chair downstairs. The hallway leads to the single bedroom within the loft level.
Porches
The 320 sq. ft. screened side porch and the entry porch are a few of the highlights of this barndominium. The charming side porch with the outdoor setup is a merit, serving as an anteroom that connects the indoors with the outdoors– a seamless addition to making a family closer to nature. The entry porch is also engaging, pronouncing the bold contemporary style of the home.
No wonder Charlie picked the said plan as an inspiration; just look at how imposing those tall columns are, as they are made with the same quality stone used for the entire fireplace and wainscot. Such an impressive facade!
Garage
The attached garage next door is a wall away from the main living space. It is planned to stash up camper vans or RV-size cars, having a 1,400 sq. ft. floor, 14 ft. height, and 12 ft. overhead doors. It also has ample leeway for hobby equipment, so it is an efficient garage.
