Designed by Pattersons Associates Architects as a honeymoon destination, The Seascape Retreat on the Banks Peninsula, is perfect for anyone who appreciates seclusion, romance, style and a view.

Banks Peninsula is a peninsula of volcanic origin on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand set into a rock escarpment.
Its plan is an interlocking geometry responding to both near views of the Bay and far views out to Rocky Spires. It is lined with horizontal macrocarpa wood. This timber forms integrated joinery, wall and ceiling panels behind double glazed low e-glass in a storm and shatter proof steel mullions which utilize earthquake resistant sliding heads.
Not only is it romantic and secluded, but its ‘green’, too. This retreat is built using all local materials and is constructed largely from rock quarried near its site with poured concrete floors and an earth turfed roof.

This stone, concrete wood and glass Seaside home has just three rooms – a living area with built-in kitchenette, a raised sleeping area and a bathroom.
Along with the breathtaking view, there is an outdoor ethanol fireplace, wood deck with built-in loungers and jacuzzi tub set into the concrete just outside the bathroom.

Inside, a king-size bed sits upon a dais, a step up from the living area and fireplace, so the incredible view dominates the space. The modern bathroom matches the rest of Seascape for drama – an arrowslit window capturing a view of the dramatic rock formations along the coast and leading to the outdoor spa.
